Yet, that didn't keep me from enjoying the section. On to the next!

Oh, and the business about the van, I kind of already assumed the siphoning and such.Alice Audreyhttp://www.aliceaudrey.com/?page_id=4029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6326445835838355964.post-61014786054266422872008-09-13T23:41:00.000-05:002008-09-13T23:41:00.000-05:00I find this to be the most jarring chapter so far....I find this to be the most jarring chapter so far. This library setup doesn't feel at all like something that would happen with kids left suddenly alone like that. I was definitely very aware that I was reading a work of fiction that had been written by someone.

In the other chapters I was much more involved in the story, and it seemed to flow more smoothly and realistically.Sebatinskyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14683685409948942908noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6326445835838355964.post-18766232681921431032008-09-10T17:43:00.000-05:002008-09-10T17:43:00.000-05:00I really enjoy the fact that you put a Knowledge c...I really enjoy the fact that you put a Knowledge center in this story. If I were in that horrible outbreak, I'd want to be part of the library group. Because then you'd have a source of knowledge forever at your disposal.

However, if you were not part of the group, copying down important information and supplying it to the general public in pamphlets would charge a decent income too.Yiehtkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13993394536426533539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6326445835838355964.post-16643054772077572672008-08-30T10:34:00.000-05:002008-08-30T10:34:00.000-05:00The Regents have one hotel shuttle (van) they keep...The Regents have one hotel shuttle (van) they keep running by siphoning fuel from other vehicles. The difficulty of getting fuel is one of their limiters in getting more food, since they can't keep additional vans running.

You're right that the fuel issue doesn't get a lot of mention, especially not in the early chapters. I no longer remember if I wrote more about it and cut it, or if I just assumed the oblique references were enough. Diesel as a trade item and the logistics of foraging long distances do come up later on, but it would've been simple for me to make a reference to those things early on.

Funny thing is that even though I had beta readers, you're the first to ask about this sort of thing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6326445835838355964.post-88391504025909589612008-08-30T09:26:00.000-05:002008-08-30T09:26:00.000-05:00Ok, here is something that is bothering me. You keep on mentioning a shuttle??
a bus, or min van transport.
What is it? or did you want us to just go with the idea there is a still public transportations still running.
Not meaning to be harsh or anything.
I could very well have missed the whole description.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
