I read the whole story and I'm very impressed. I think its particularly realistic how in times of deprivation a person's mind comes to centre on acquring food.
The one thing that I would have liked to see is the story start a little earlier; I think that would have helped in charactor and plot development. As it opens the charactors have already toughened up or found some way to cope with the new reality; seeing the process (rather than being told about it later) would have been interesting. Your decision on what you were interested in writing about of course!

I read this story as it was being written, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll admit that I was slightly disappointed when the story ended, but it's nice to get little email updates every few months.
