Regency Hotel: The Penthouse Suite

The top floors of the Regency Hotel are largely useless. No one wants to climb twenty floors in a pitch-dark and claustrophobic stairwell. Information about what’s up there can be found among the literature at the first floor reservation desk, if one is curious:

The Presidential Suite offers gracious spaces for working, relaxing and entertaining on the Hotel's top-most floor, with a panoramic view of the city from its spacious balcony.

• This elegant suite features antique furnishings, original artwork, beautiful chandeliers and a custom hand-tufted wool carpet.
  
• Introduced by a marble entry hall, the comfortable living area includes a refrigerated wet bar and stereo system; the dining room seats up to ten guests around the antique mahogany table.
  
• The library is illuminated by a LaLanne chandelier in gilded bronze. The extensive book collection is set in oak bookcases framed with an elaborate carved vine-and-leaf motif. The library is also furnished with a chess table and a writing desk.
  
• Guests of the Presidential Suite enjoy a VIP check-in, a complimentary floral arrangement in the living room and bathrooms of the suite, and fresh fruit with Evian.
  
• The master bedroom features a four-poster bed, upholstered soft walls and draperies in sepia toile fabric and includes a large dressing area and walk-in closet.
  
• The Rosa Portugallo marble bathroom includes a double vanity, deep soaking bathtub, walk-in shower with rain bath showerhead, and a WC including bidet in a separate alcove. There is a guest powder room located off the entrance foyer for convenience.
  
• The second bedroom has a king bed, down duvet, a petite dressing table, handcrafted lamps and draperies, and an LCD flat-screen television with DVD.

Sounds nice! Too bad about all those dark stairs. Not to mention that the keys are missing.
